Hi friend! I’m Sherah — founder, candle connoisseur, and chief wax experimenter at Misiyo Candle Co.
In 2019, I set out to do more than just make great candles—I wanted to create something that felt good and did good. So I combined my love for cozy spaces with my heart for a small non-profit in Rwanda, and Misiyo was born.
I started from scratch, diving headfirst into the world of beeswax. The more I learned about its clean-burning, long-lasting, eco-friendly magic, the more I knew it was worth the effort. After countless mason jar experiments in my kitchen (and more #fails than I care to admit), I cracked the code — blending local beeswax with creamy coconut wax for the perfect, luxe burn.
Each scent is carefully crafted to gently fill your space without overwhelming it. No overpowering perfume-y scents here — just clean fragrance + essential oil blends that smell AMAZING.
Every candle, reed diffuser + essential oil blend is handcrafted from start to finish at our studio space and retail storefront in Edmonton, Alberta.
We're now a team of five and I could not do this without the help of my amazing team members Brie, Nancy, Jacquie and Delaney.
From our candle vessels to our packaging, we're working to be as eco-friendly as possible. We care about our impact on the planet and continue to work at sustainability as a whole - we even offset some of our electricity use with solar!
